Repeating Elements

While on East Beach I found these posts and flags. Well, OK, they were pretty hard to miss! Talk about repeating visual elements ---these posts went on as far as the eye could see.  Unfortunately due to all the salt water we would have to drive through, I didn't get to find out if there were other interesting arrangements further down the beach, but I thought the colorful flags added to this grouping.

  1. I can't help but wonder, if you had moved in closer to the poles and shadows created by them, would you have been able to make a more dynamic shot? Maybe a higher angle allowing to see the curve of the lines as they leave the photo. It just feels like something is missing. Nice concept; I think you can do better with it.

  2. I could have walked around and shot these flags from another perpective, that is true. I was thinking all the posts in the background contributed to the repeating elements theme and from farther left I would have had grass in the background. I didn't have a ladder and would definitely have needed one to get as high as it would have been necessary to see the curve of the line of the posts, but then at that angle I may have lost the impact from the color in the flags. I was not there at the best time of day either. The horizon is centered in the image and that bothered me, too. I am not sure what you mean by getting closer to the poles, wouldn't that have cut off the shadows? May need a return trip to work on this shot more, at least I don't think the poles and flags are going anywhere anytime soon.

  3. In retrospect, maybe backing off more would have shown the movement or repeating elements better.
