Flowerburst

I don't know what kind of flower this is, maybe a Zinnia or a Dahlia. I just liked the radiating petals and the vibrant colors, with that little star-shaped pistol or stamen as an extra touch.

Camera info: Nikon D200, 60mm macro lens at f4.5 and 1/160th, ISO 100, cloudy whitebalance

Post processing: cloned out white specks, Punch Drunk from Kubota, Touch of dark on edges, sharpened with the Edge and Popsickle (applied to the center only).

  1. This photo looks like something that would come from Tony Sweet. I really like the off-centered composition. It really adds interest and allows a lot of room for your eye to move around.

  3. Yes, great shot indeed! It would be interesting to try some Fractalius on it too...
