I found this female woodpecker (I think) on my front porch after I heard something hit the window above the doors. She stayed on the porch a while but flew up into the tree when I came around to see how she was, so I am glad that she seemed to be OK. This is cropped in a bit, which must have caused the haloing I can see around the bird.
Looks like an immature bird that is just learning to fly. Gets your attention with that thump into the window doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteThe halo could be sharpening too. Did you sharpen it to try and bring it better in focus?
I went back and looked at my psd and it looks like the halos happened when I used a Luminizer action by Kubota, because the bird was backlit and kind of dark. When I sharpened it I only sharpened in the center to bring out the feathers and the eye. Not up to Tim's or Steve's standards, that is for sure!
