Post processing: In ACR processed for a little more exposure, blacks and vibrance. In Photoshop, selected a portion of the neck and used the warp tool to shrink it in, cloned out distraction in background, selected yellow area in background and desaturated it some, Touch of Dark to darken neck area, Bring Out the Eyes, the Edge to sharpen
I still like the "half of one eye shut" expression on the cat. There is a good diagonal. I also like hands. Next time you visit your sister think of the cat as a baby with new parents. Maybe you could get cat and hands.

I hate to tell your sister this, but Xander is the star of this photo. His relaxed pose, the cock of his head and the front legs make sure that your eye moves to him.

Courtney has 5 kittens to adopt out from a rescue. Call if you have any extra good parents lying around (ie like your sister!. You have learned a good lesson in pet portraits...tiredness is good!!
